ART SALES ASSOCIATE

An Art Sales Associate is a key member of the onboard retail and art program team, working directly with the Gallery Director and Principal Auctioneer to implement and execute the cruise ship’s art gallery experience. Their main function is to generate leads and sales, actively market the onboard art program, and set up curated displays and auction events in high-traffic guest areas.

Art Sales Associates handle fine art pieces, including paintings, prints, sculptures, and limited-edition collectibles by renowned and emerging artists. They are expected to initiate consultative conversations, educate guests about the art collection and auction process, and independently manage the full sales cycle — from client interest to invoice generation, payment, shipping, and post-sale service.

Each Art Associate receives daily performance feedback and is formally evaluated monthly by their Principal Auctioneer. The role offers progressive earning potential, with commissions available after the first 30 days onboard, in addition to guaranteed weekly base pay. Accommodations, meals, and travel to/from the ship are provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curate and set up art displays to promote the gallery and generate guest interest.

  • Actively engage with guests, identify potential collectors, and build lasting client relationships.

  • Support and manage onboard art auctions alongside the Principal Auctioneer.

  • Maintain punctuality for all events, particularly those involving guest interaction.

  • Participate in all mandatory shipboard trainings and safety drills.

  • Uphold a proactive, promotional attitude — constantly marketing the art, gallery, and yourself.

  • Be adaptable, coachable, and committed to growing your knowledge of the art program.

  • Respect and comply with cruise line operations, maintaining positive relationships with onboard teams.

Art Sales Associates with strong sales performance and experience in art, auctions, or luxury retail may advance quickly to Art Specialist or other leadership roles within the program.
