BARISTA

A BARISTA is responsible for making and serving coffee and other specialty drinks in the bar areas. They must have knowledge of different brewing methods and be able to make a variety of coffee drinks, including differnet designs. Usually they also serve cakes and other pastry with the coffee drinks and collect payments from the guests.

BAR UTILITY

|

BAR UTILITY (or Bar Utility) is the entry-level position for the bar department. Responsible for performing various tasks in the bar area, including restocking, cleaning, and setting up for service, ensuring all supplies and garnishments are available for the Bartenders to use. They may also assist the bartenders and servers with serving drinks and food if needed extra support.

BAR SERVER

A BAR SERVER (or Bar Waiter) is responsible for taking drink orders, serving drinks and providing excellent customer service to bar patrons. They must have great knowledge of the bar's menu and be able to make recommendations based on customer preferences. As a tipped position, it pays off to go the extra mile in providing memorable service to the guests. They are also responsible for safe drinking and must (at times) know when to report if guests are drunk to unsafe levels.

BAR MANAGER

The BAR MANAGER is responsible for overseeing all bar operations onboard the ship, dozens of venues and teams of up to 180 crew. They make decisions regarding menu development, staffing, training, budgeting, and are responsible for ensuring that the bar runs smoothly and provides excellent customer service. It's a revenue drive department, therefore they are in charge of managing inventory and profitability of this department through continuously improved sales of beverages in all venues.

YOUTH STAFF

The YOUTH STAFF is responsible for providing entertainment activities for children onboard, ages 0 to 17. They may organize games, crafts, and other events specifically designed for children at different ages. They are also responsible for changing, feeding and reporting. Hygiene and safety are crucial in the play areas and they will be responsible in a team setting to ensure compliance with proper USPH and other regulations.

VOCALISTS

VOCALISTS are entertainers who can sing and perform in the ship's band. They must sing a variety of genres such as 60s, 70s and Motown, 80s, 90s to now, American Pop and Classic Rock, Latin, Country and some international repertoire may be required as per guests special requests or depending on the demographics of the itinerary.

VIDEO TECHNICIAN

The VIDEO TECHNICIAN is responsible for capturing video footage of the various entertainment events and activities onboard, patch it to the larger screen or in-cabin TV, add subtitles, schedule movies accordingly on TV or Big Movie Screen. They edit and produce video content to be shown on the ship's televisions and monitors, fix any monitors with issues, replace any in-cabin TV and keep the LED pannels in good order, replacing parts as needed.

TEENS STAFF

The TEENS STAFF is responsible for providing activities and entertainment for teenage guests on the cruise ship, from 12-17 years of age. They may organize games, competitions, and other events specifically designed for teenagers. They will supervise activities and report any issues, keeping special attention to safety onboard.

SPORTS STAFF

|

SPORTS STAFF are members of the Entertainment department, who will be mostly scheduled prioritizing the sports activities and events. They may lead activities such as aerobics, line dancing, volleyball or basketball; they are knowledgeable about the rules of each sport they lead. Some ships may offer aerial sports that require safety belts and harness equipment, and they must enforce all safety in compliance with guidelines provided to prevent any accidents.
